Denton ISD schools will use the district lessons for the Essential 8 skills for learning throughout the school year in pre-kindergarten - 5th grade. 
All Essential 8 lessons align with the Texas Positive Character Trait TEKS and the Texas Model Program Curriculum Scope and Sequence.  These skills are taught on a rotating basis each school year (4 one and 4 the next).

In 2025-26 the skills covered will be:

• 1st 9 Weeks--Optimistic Thinking

• 2nd 9 Weeks---Relationship Skills

•  3rd 9 Weeks---Goal Directed Behavior

• 4th 9 Weeks---Self- Awareness
